Yasmina by Jusoor Promotes Environmental Awareness Among Children
Jusoor Foundation organised “Yasmina by Jusoor” event bringing together 30 children aged 7 to 12. The event formed part of an awareness campaign aimed at enhancing children’s environmental awareness and transforming concepts related to gardening and environmental conservation into simple everyday practices.
The event offered an educational and interactive experience that enabled children to learn about the different parts of a plant and its basic needs. Through a series of age-appropriate learning stations and practical and creative activities, participants also explored the essential steps of planting and caring for household plants.
The “Plant it with Yasmina” activity served as the event’s main station, giving children the opportunity to plant their own seedlings and learn how to water and care for them to support healthy growth. Each child took their plant home to continue nurturing it, extending the learning experience beyond the event and encouraging them to turn their newly acquired knowledge into lasting everyday behaviour.
The concept behind “Yasmina by Jusoor” is based on the belief that when children plant a seedling with their own hands, they develop a stronger sense of responsibility for its care and a deeper awareness of the importance of protecting the environment and appreciating the natural world around them. The initiative reflects Jusoor Foundation’s commitment to delivering environmental education through simple, engaging approaches that combine knowledge with hands-on experience.
The event also reflected the Foundation’s approach to building community partnerships and supporting Omani enterprises and talents. This was achieved through collaboration with a local agricultural nursery and by drawing on the expertise of Omani entrepreneurs and creatives in developing the campaign’s visual identity, producing artwork, and creating its accompanying media content.
The “Yasmina by Jusoor” campaign continues to deliver educational digital content that promotes plant care and environmental responsibility. The impact of the event is also being assessed to measure the development of children’s environmental knowledge and practices.
